Patna, (Bihar Times): Disagreeing with the Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh chief minister Nitish Kumar on
Monday opposed the move to create a Federal Crime
Agency to investigate cases of terrorists’ attack in
India.
Speaking to newsmen at the Janata Darbar on Monday he
said that such agency would not serve any purpose.
Effective policing, maintaining social and communal
harmony and eliminating unnecessary fears among people
can help tackle terrorism in a better way, he said.
The chief minister said that Centre should fulfil its
responsibility and the state should cooperate with it.
This cooperation is essential for fighting the menace
of terrorism.
On Saturday the Prime Minister floated the idea of
Federal Crime Agency. However, Kumar said that the
country already had a Central Bureau of Investigation
with specialized cells to look after such issues. The
Centre should tell where is the problem in
investigation by the existing agencies? he asked.
Nitish said that the presence of central para-military
forces in Bihar is much less and that the state had
overcome this problem by creating Special Auxiliary
Police.
