Patna, (Bihar Times): Just a month after the
appointment of the new human resources minister the
state government made a turnaround so far recruitment
of lecturers are concerned. It now realizes that there
is no such vacancy in any of the universities.
Only last September the then human resources
development minister, Brishen Patel, announced that
the state government would appoint 5,000 lecturers and
that the process would begin within one month.
Immediately afterward Raj Bhawan clarified that there
does not exist any vacancy in any university of the
state. According to it in fact there are 97 surplus
teachers in Magadh University.
The office of Raj Bhawan said that over-stafffing in
other universities would also be known after the
process of rationalization is over. Most of the
lecturers and professors have got transferred to the
urban centres leaving colleges in the rural areas and
small towns without any teacher.
One failed to understand as to how come Patel then
announced that there are 5,000 vacancies in the state
when the process of de-linking Intermediate education
from the colleges have started. However, the new human
resources development minister, Hari Narayan Singh,
recently said that de-linking is not possible this
year in universities other than Patna University.
The state government’s U-turn on the lecturers’
appointment is not the only shift from the past
policy. The state government is likely to cancel the
recruitment of about one-third of over one lakh
teachers appointed last year as it has been found that
their documents are forged.
