Patna, May 23 : A Bihar court Thursday sent 52 suspected Maoist guerrillas, including six women, in judicial custody, two days after they were arrested by the police.
About 100 suspected Maoist guerrillas were arrested Tuesday in Jamui district, some 200 km from here, by a team of special task force and the district police. After interrogation, 48 of them were let off, while the rest were produced before the court.
Jamui Superintendent of Police Binay Kumar told IANS by phone that the police strongly suspect that some of the arrested rebels were involved in last month's attack on Jhajha railway station, in which six policemen were killed.
They are also suspected to have a hand in the killing of Munger Superintendent of Police K.C. Surendra Babu and six other policemen in 2005.
