Patna, May 30: All the thirty students enrolled in Super 30, an innovative coaching institute in Bihar, have passed the highly competitive Indian Institute of Technology-Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) this year, the institute announced here Friday.
It is the first time that Super 30 achieved 100 percent success.
"It is a big day for us. We were waiting for hundred percent result for the last four years. At last we succeeded in our effort to achieve it this year," Anand Kumar, director of Super 30, told IANS.
He said: “We are really in celebration mood after making it."
Every year, Super 30 selects a group of 30 IIT aspirants from poor families and provides them with free coaching, food and accommodation.
Bihar's Additional Director-General of Police Abhyanand, who teaches physics at the institute, said this year Super 30 successful students include students from a minority community for the first time.
Till last year students from backward castes, extreme backward castes and Dalits cracked IIT-JEE through Super 30. “But this year some students of minority community succeeded in IIT-JEE," said Abhyanand.
He said the success of Super 30 lies in hard work and proper guidance for achieving excellent result.
He said that in 2007, 28 of the students made it through ITT-JEE and two others were selected for preparatory. In 2006 too, 28 students of the Super 30 had made it to the IITs.
"We were sure of positive results as we teach them to eat, sleep, walk and talk only IIT," reiterated Anand.
Anand, who also runs the Ramanujam School of Mathematics, said Super 30 is supported by the income generated from the mathematics school, which has students who can afford to pay fees.
Super 30 took shape five years ago. Eighteen of its students cracked the IIT-JEE that first year, 2003. The number rose to 22 in 2004 and 26 in 2005.
Last year, Norika Fujiwara, a former Japanese beauty queen and actress, made a documentary film on Super 30 for its innovative and successful attempt to send poor children to India's top engineering colleges.

I have keenly followed the news of great successes of son and daughters of Bihar who have brought glory to our State. I salute the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Nitish Kumar Jee for honouring Shitikanth for topping the IIT-JEE - 2008.
But the greatest celebration for the down trodden and deprived people of Bihar is the "Super Success of Super - 30". We salute the spirit of great social service rendered by Prof. Anand Kumar and Prof. Abhayanand - the real Great Gurus of present day Bihar, who have selected 30 most poor boys from deprived communities and made them heros by virtue of 100 % selection in IIT - JEE - 2008. In fact, they can only be compared with the great Guru Chanakya, who discovered Chandragupta from the dust and made him the Emperor of India.
The yeomen services rendered by Shri Anand Kumar and Shri Abhayanand should be celebrated by the people of Bihar with all fan fare and without any heart burn. They should be honoured with "BIHAR GAURAV SAMMAN" and much more.
I solemnly request the Hon'ble Chief Minister and Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar to recommend their names to the Central Government for the Award of "Padma Vibhushan" for their heroics in social service.
As a token of appreciation, their Super Gurukul - the thatched hut which is working as a gold mine of talents, should be donated a piece of 5 acres of land and pucca infrastructure, which we all Biharis should see and take pride of.

Hats off to the Super 30 Group in Patna where all the 30 students got admission to IIT. Apart from the superb 100% success, the students who were enrolled were ‘underprivileged’ (if one may use the term!). Secondly, the coaching at Super 30 was free! Such a fantastic service at no cost means that Super 30 has reached the six sigma level.
In comparison, the success claimed by coaching classes in Kota, in Mumbai and other places fades into insignificance. I would like these classes to advertise the total number of students enrolled by them and the actual number out of them who got into IIT. The percentage would be ridiculously miniscule. In fact, I strongly feel that the various State Govts must make it mandatory to all coaching classes and private tutors to display prominently such information so that parents and students will get a realistic picture about coaching classes. It will disclose the efficiency and efficacy of the coaching classes.

One of the most wondrful news Ihave ever read , at Bihar Times ,as
I read today, one can not find a suitbale vocabulary in English
language expressing his feelings and gratitude towards the people
behind the success of the super30!
something can not be expressed in words, it can just be felt, with joy
and happiness ,sitting thousands of miles away from home !
May GOD grant them similar success in future, THEY are pride of the
state and brought back the glory.
