Patna, (Bihar Times): External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee has requested the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to lead a goodwill delegation to China.
In a letter to the chief minister, Mukherjee requested him to lead a delegation under the exchange programme of the External Affairs Ministry with the international department of the Communist Party of
China.

The letter said: “I would recommend you consider leading a delegation to China within this year under
the exchange programme.” The letter dated February 15 was released to the media on Friday.
The letter further said: “China is our largest neighbour. We attach priority to deepening and
diversifying relations with China. The exchange programme provides an opportunity to expose senior
political leaders of the two sides to each other’s countries as it would help enhance mutual trust and
understanding, an important ingredient for healthy bilateral relations.”
It is not yet clear whether Nitish has given his consent or not.
Though media pundits are trying to make out political meaning the truth is that such offers to the leaders of the opposition parties are not new. Even during the NDA government it was none else but Lalu Yadav and Ram Vilas Paswan who were included in the delegation to Pakistan.
