Patna, (Bihar Times): A unique way to celebrate women’s empowerment. Women employees of Hajipur railway station under the Sonepur railway division of the East Central Railway, on Saturday observed the International Women’s Day by manning and controlling all the trains pasing through the station.
They were women working as the station master, points-men, cabin-men, TTEs etc on March 8. Nine women
officials of the Sonepur division were specially trained to manage the operational duty. Apart from
that they manned the railway crossings.

The divisional railway manager of Sonepur was also present at Hajipur station on this occasion. However, sources said that this was only a symbolic way to celebrate the day and not much should be read into it. The drivers and guards of the trains running on the route were after all men.
