Patna, (Bihar Times): Retrofitting of all the existing buildings in the seismic zone of the state would be made mandotary.

This was announced by the minister of Public Health and Engineering Department, Prem Kumar, in the state legislative council on Wednesday. He was replying to the question raised by RJD’s Bhim Singh. Apart from Patna, a large part of North Bihar comes in the seismic zone. Earthquake struck north Bihar on January 15, 1934 and once again on August 21, 1988 killing a large number of people. Munger and Darbhanga were the worst hit.
