Gaya (Bihar Times): The Commissioner, Magadh Division, K P Ramaiah, has sacked two top woman officials of Gaya district board and municipal corporation following charges of alleged misuse of their official position.

Invoking clause 75(5) of Bihar Panchayati Raj Act the Commissioner removed Shobha Sinha, Chairperson of the district board. Charges of misuse of office, tampering of minute book and deliberate non-constitution of various committees of the board were levelled against her.

The action came following the complaints lodged by Deputy Chairman Anup Singh last year were found to be true.

Similarly Lalita Devi, Mayor of Gaya Municipal Corporation, was given marching order after verificiation of charges about misusing official position and tampering minute books against her, sources said.

In this case the complainant was Suman Singh, a corporator. The complainant also maintained that the Mayor’s husband Jitendra Yadav alias Bachhu Yadav, an alleged history-sheeter, was functioning as the de-facto Mayor and was even demanding protection money from other corporators.

The Commissioner invoked Clause 25(5) of the Bihar Local Bodies Act to remove the Mayor.

Bihar requires hundreds of officers like Dr. K. P. Ramaiah who is well-known for his honesty and integrity as an IAS officer.  Now, it is turn for Gaya district and Dr. Ramaiah is the right person who can clean corruption as far as practically possible.

The removal of Gaya District Board Chairperson and Mayor (both women) will set an example for those involved in serious corruptions. Hats off to Dr. Ramaiah for his courage by way of invoking clause 75(5) of Bihar Panchayati Raj Act and sacked Mrs. Shobha Sinha, Chairperson of the District Board and invoked clause 25(5) of the Bihar Local Bodies Act and sacked the Mayor, Mrs. Lalita Devi.

It is important to mention that once corruption is eliminated (100%), then only Bihar can see real development, though present CM Nitish Kumar is doing a good job and result of his good governance is in front of everyone.

Further, in view of recent hate campaign of Raj Thackeray against Biharis in Mumbai also requires that Bihar should be developed on the pattern of other developed state, so that migration will be minimal.
